The first thing that stood out on the nose was the sweetness. There were noticeable notes of honeysuckle right upfront, giving the wine a floral and inviting aroma. As it opened up, we started picking up citrus notes along with hints of apricot.

This newer varietal originated in Italy and is a cross between Muscato Ottonel and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica. According to Hernandez, Trentina was originally known as FP1319 before receiving its official name through the Outer Coastal Plain Vineyard Association (OCPVA).
The Outer Coastal Plain also has proprietary rights to Trentina, making it a truly unique part of the New Jersey wine scene.
It’s another reminder that the Garden State wine industry continues to grow and create some interesting wines you won’t find everywhere else.
Best Food Pairings for Trentina Wine
When it comes to food pairings, Trentina has plenty of options.
The bright citrus flavors and crisp acidity would pair nicely with grilled chicken, barbecue chicken, chicken fajitas, or even Thai cuisine. The balance of fruit and acidity would work well with dishes that have a little spice or smoky flavor.
But honestly, we enjoyed this bottle all by itself. Sometimes a wine doesn’t need a big meal next to it. Sometimes it’s just about enjoying the moment, and this was one of those bottles.
